Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 16 hours of draw. Draw specimen Monday through Wednesday before 3 pm  (MUST arrive at Boulder Community Foothills Lab before 4 pm in order to get to NJH before 7pm M-W), and Thursday before 12 noon (MUST arrive at Boulder Commnity Foothills Lab before 1 pm in order to arrive at NJH before 4pm Th). Do NOT spin.

 

Container/Tube: Four QuantiFERON® tubes.

Specimen Volume: 1 mL blood in each tube

Collection Instructions: Tubes are labeled Nil (grey-top), TB1 Antigen (green-top), TB2 (yellow-top), and Mitogen (purple-top). Draw in this order:  Grey, Green, Yellow, Purple. Tubes must be filled to black line of label. Keep tubes on needle for 2 to 3 seconds and the vacuum should exhaust after correct volume is drawn. Shake each tube immediately after drawing, firmly 10 times to ensure that tube surface is coated in blood. Do NOT shake vigorously. Do NOT spin. (Specimen drawn Thursday after 12 noon through Sunday is not acceptable.)

Note: 1. If a butterfly needle is used, draw a discard tube first.

2. Tube must be shaken gently but firmly 10 times in order to coat entire surface inside tube.
